Don’t Forget The Old Ways is a blog dedicated to the many aspects of the way life use to be. Whether it is vintage recipes, gardening and food storage, frugality, home remedies, spirituality or just stories of a simpler time, they will all come together here in my little corner of the world, gathered from my own knowledge or borrowed from family and friends who have passed them down to me. From time to time, I may borrow from something I’ve come across in old books or newspapers, but it will tie into our theme here and be informational or entertaining in an “Old Timey” sort of way.
I am originally from Eastern Kentucky, in the midst of the Appalachian Mountains and my lineage includes Cherokee, Cree and Blackfoot Native American blood, as well as English, Irish and a bit of Scottish heritage mixed in. There are a great deal of things that I learned from my mother and grandmother that I will be sharing, and stories from times much further back. It is a rich heritage, full of things that I certainly want to keep all in one place for my own children to someday benefit from. Putting it out here for everyone just seemed like the natural thing to do.
